Splendor Santa Barbara LOVES the coconut and we use coconut oil as the main base oil for many of our products. Why coconut? Coconut oil is healthy, sustainable and provides luxurious moisture and a great natural lather without the chemicals. We are delighted to hear the stories people tell us about how coconut oil has changed their lives; treating acne, pigmentation problems, oral bacteria, eczema and psoriasis.
FACT: a coconut (Cocos nucifera) is: a fruit, a nut, and a seed.
FICTION: Coconut oil and palm oil are the same.

Coconut oil IS sustainable
FACT: Coconut Water is one of the biggest sources of electrolytes out there and is similar in composition to human blood plasma. In fact, during WWll, coconut water (taken straight from a coconut) was used as emergency blood plasma transfusions to wounded soldiers ....crazy right?
FACT: Coconut juice can give you an energy high. Coconut juice is high in electrolytes, filling and hydrating. If only those Red Bull drinkers knew the secret! Coconut juice regulates blood sugar, lowers blood pressure, increases weight loss, increases athletic performance, lowers cholesterol, reduces cellulite and relaxes muscle tension.
FICTION: Coconut juice is high in calories.
Actually, there are only 45 calories per serving!
FACT: Coconut oil helps to delay the occurrence of wrinkles because it contains antioxidant Vitamin E, known to protect skin cells from damage over time. The Vitamin E found in coconut oil soothes eczema, sunburn and psoriasis, and its antiviral and antifungal benefits even help to treat bug bites.
FICTION: Coconut oil is not readily absorbed. Actually, coconut oil is thin, non-greasy and absorbs in seconds.
FACT: Coconut oil soap is the only soap that can lather in sea water. That desert island isn't sounding so rough now is it? Coconuts provide all that nature intended.
FACT: Coconuts are Sustainable
When coconuts are used, they are easy to replace. Coconut trees can grow in almost any kind of soil and live and bear fruit for up to more than sixty years. It is considered a "three-generation tree" which can support a farmer, a farmer's children and grandchildren. Coconut oil is regarded as a renewable resource which can be grown again in contrast to fossil and mineral raw materials such as crude oil, coals, ores, etc. whose occurrence is non-renewable.
